‘Suspected fraudster arrested after talking woman into giving up house’

AMMAN — A woman reportedly gave up her house to a fraudster who had convinced her that a treasure is buried in her backyard, the Public Security Department (PSD) said on Thursday.

A source from the Zarqa PSD told Petra that the suspect convinced the woman that there is buried gold in her house. He took money from her for the necessary equipment to dig it up.

After taking the money, the suspect allegedly convinced the victim to give up her house to facilitate the extraction of the treasure. Security agents arrested the man and an alleged accomplice and referred them to the prosecutor.
