AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat is scheduled to hold a press conference on Tuesday to announce the results of the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination’s (Tawjihi) summer session,  the ministry’s spokesperson, Walid Jallad, said on Monday.

The results will be posted on the ministry’s website (moe.gov.jo) and will be accessible after the press conference, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

A total of 127,834 students in both the academic and vocational streams had registered for the Tawjihi summer session.

Regular students accounted for 90,500 of the total, while the remaining 37,334 students were enrolled in the private study programme.

Students’ scores in the Tawjihi play a major role in determining whether they will pursue higher education or not. Universities use the Tawjihi grades as the main criteria to decide on students’ admission.

The Public Security Department media office, in cooperation with the Central Traffic Department, said the police will take security and traffic-related measures to protect people’s lives and property and to ensure smooth and peaceful celebrations after the Tawjihi results are announced.

Violations will be dealt with on the spot in the case of festive firing and fireworks. In the case of processions, and so as not to cause traffic jams, tickets will be issued and violators will be informed later on, according to a PSD statement.

The PSD called on students to avoid any irresponsible practices that may harm others and ruin their celebrations.
