By JT - Jan 28,2015 - Last updated at Jan 28,2015

AMMAN — The Jordan Teachers Association (JTA) on Wednesday launched a social solidarity and education fund for its members.

The fund will extend soft loans to teachers for marriage or education purposes for them and their children in line with Sharia (Islamic law).

The move followed the establishment of a health insurance fund in 2014, according to Nasser Nawasreh, president of the JTA’s funds committee.

He noted that the loans can reach JD2,000 for marriage and JD5,000 for education, while compensation for the family of a deceased teacher can reach JD35,000, according to a JTA statement.
