AMMAN — The Criminal Court prosecutor on Sunday charged three brothers in connection with the manslaughter of a man in an Amman neighbourhood last week, official sources said.
The 40-year-old victim was reportedly struck with a wooden stick on his head by the suspects, following a heated argument in the street in Marka, a senior judicial source said.
In their initial testimonies in front of Criminal Court Prosecutor Suleiman Hawasheh, the brothers claimed that they had engaged in a heated argument with the victim, the senior judicial source told The Jordan Times.
“One of the suspects claimed to have grabbed a wooden stick from his vehicle and struck the victim on his head,” the judicial source said, quoting initial testimonies.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was admitted for treatment, a second source said.
“The victim was awake when he was admitted to hospital, but later suffered from brain haemorrhage. He went into a coma and died shortly afterwards,” the second source told The Jordan Times.
Hawasheh ordered that the three suspects remain in custody pending further investigation.
