Tuberculosis campaign opens Thursday

AMMAN — The Health Ministry on Tuesday said it will launch a free medical campaign on tuberculosis this week in cooperation with the Jordan Anti-Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases Society.
The campaign begins on Thursday at 9am in Sweimeh area in Southern Shuneh, according to the ministry.
Its activities include check-ups and x-rays, and will benefit Jordanians and migrant workers to uncover new cases of tuberculosis and give medication to those infected.
The campaign also includes distributing pamphlets with medical advice on the disease, precautions, and treatment.
Recent infection rates reached 5.5 per cent for every 100,000 residents, according to the ministry’s statistics.
