AMMAN — Police on Tuesday said the death of two brothers who were electrocuted while at their warehouse in the capital's Nuzha suburb on Monday night was ruled accidental, official sources said.

The two victims, aged 44 and 60, were found lying on the floor in the warehouse by Civil Defence Department (CDD) rescue teams, a senior CDD official said.

"When paramedics checked on them they discovered that they were dead, and sent their bodies to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy," the CDD official told The Jordan Times.

Upon examining the premises, the CDD official added, investigators found "a large water tank that was on the ground, and water traces were found on the floor".

"We concluded that the water tank fell on electric wires that were on the floor, which consequently electrocuted the two men who were standing where the water gathered," the CDD official explained.

Public Security Department Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi told The Jordan Times that police are treating the incident as an accident.

"The two brothers died of electrocution caused by an unfortunate incident," the police official said.
