AMMAN — The World Health Organisation’s (WHO) country office in Jordan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, will celebrate World Mental Health Day 2014 on October 13 with the theme “Living with Schizophrenia”, according to a statement released by WHO on Sunday.

The day aims to promote mental health awareness among citizens and refugees living in Jordan as part of a larger national campaign which began on September 15.

WHO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, supports the improvement of mental health services, raising awareness, capacity building, advocating against social exclusion, stigma and discrimination of mental illness, and the mobilisation of resources in support of the mental health sector.

The national campaign, dubbed “living with mental illness” concludes on Thursday, the statement said.
