AMMAN — Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh on Monday announced the winners of the 10th edition of the King Abdullah II Award for Creativity. The three fields of the award attracted 110 nominations: 57 for the literature and arts category, 17 for the science category and 36 for the Arab city category, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Egyptian novelist Issam Yousef won the literature and arts category under the theme "Phenomenon of drug proliferation: Combatting and treatment" for his novel “Quarter of a gramme”.

The jury of the award did not run the science category as nominations lacked “authenticity and applicability”, according to Petra. As for the Arab city category, run under the theme “City identity: Preservation and Development,” Saudi national Waleed Al Hmeidi, representing Asir Municipality, won the award.
