AMMAN — Finn Church Aid (FCA), a Finnish non-profit organisation, in partnership with HelpAge International (HAI), an international NGO, organised a workshop titled “Youth Engagement Strategy” on August 31 to enhance youth engagement in local economic development plans, according to a FCA statement sent to The Jordan Times.
The workshop was organised in cooperation with six Jordanian municipalities and funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The workshop brought together members of the Local Development Units (LDU) and youth beneficiaries from each of the targeted municipalities, including Mahis, Junaid, Zaatari and Manshiyeh, Dhulail, Sahab and Jerash.
It aims to help youth be key actors in development plans and strategies to respond to socioeconomic challenges in their communities.
This participatory approach aligns with His Majesty King Abdullah vision to catalyse the contribution of youth to the development of Jordan’s local communities and national economy, the statement said.
The workshop comes as a complementary effort to a series of past meetings and workshops, conducted with the LDUs and beneficiaries, to analyse local socioeconomic needs and challenges.
The project supported the establishment of a local youth business mentor network that can provide technical guidance to local businesses in the targeted areas.
FCA is the largest Finnish non-profit multimandate organisation operating internationally in the field of humanitarian assistance and development. The organisation provides services through its offices in 13 countries around the world, according to the statement.
In Jordan, FCA aims to support the education and livelihoods of Syrian refugees and Jordanians, by helping them leverage their skills and knowledge and linking them with the labour market demands.
