Agreement signed to finance solar heating systems for 200 underprivileged families

AMMAN — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on Monday signed a project agreement to finance solar heating systems for 200 underprivileged families in Sahab with a subsidy rate of 100 per cent.
The total cost of the project stands at JD100,000 to be shared equally by the ministry’s Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) and the IUCN, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Energy Minister Hala Zawati said that the project is part of several programmes implemented by JREEEF to support households. JREEEF Director Rasmi Hamzeh said that the fund will also offer a grant for energy-saving light bulbs to each family benefitting from the programme to reduce power consumption.
