AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry is following up on a case involving a Jordanian citizen who was attacked and injured by an Israeli citizen while working in Eilat, ministry Spokesperson Sufian Qudah said on Friday.
Qudah added that the ministry, through the Jordanian Embassy in Tel Aviv, was in contact with Israeli authorities on the incident, which the ministry said was being investigated by competent authorities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Jordanian Embassy urged Israeli authorities to provide the injured citizen with any necessary healthcare needs, he added, noting that the embassy had dispatched the Jordanian consul to the hospital to check on the citizen’s health and follow up on the investigation.
The Jordanian citizen is receiving the necessary treatment at a hospital in Beir Al Sabi, and initial information indicated that he was in stable condition, the spokesperson noted.
The Israeli foreign ministry informed the Jordanian ambassador in Tel Aviv that the perpetrator had confessed to the crime, and authorities were waiting on the investigation to conclude and the charge sheet to be presented before referring the attacker to court, Qudah added.
