AMMAN — Jordan on Saturday condemned Israel’s recent announcement to launch tenders related to the construction of over a thousand new settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
According to the ministry's spokesperson, Ambassador Sinan Majali, the construction of these units constitutes a “clear violation of international law”, notably Security Council Resolution 2334.
He also emphasised that both the entire Israeli settlement policy and its details represents a violation of international law, undermining the foundations of peace and efforts to achieve a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions.
The spokesperson also said that Israel's unilateral practices, which include building and expanding settlements, land confiscation and displacing Palestinians, are illegal, illegitimate, rejected and condemned. Such practices represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law, he added.
