Jordan seeks advanced relations with European parliamentary assembly

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Wednesday received a Danish delegation tasked with following up on Jordan’s request for Partner for Democracy status with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
Tarawneh stressed Jordan’s keenness on expanding relations with PACE, explaining that the Kingdom is a model of reform in a turbulent region.
He also briefed the visiting delegation on reform-oriented laws the House has passed.
For their part, members of the delegation commended Jordan’s leading role in the region and its humanitarian efforts to serve Syrian refugees.
Also on Wednesday, Minister of Political Development and Parliamentary Affairs Khaled Kalaldeh met with the Danish delegation and briefed them on the Kingdom’s reform drive.
