Landline subscriptions down by 3.8% — TRC

AMMAN — Landline subscriptions decreased by 3.8 per cent by the end of the third quarter of 2021 to reach 291,000, compared with 302,000 subscribers by the end of the second quarter, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) announced on Thursday.
The rate of landline subscriptions reached 12.78 per cent by the third quarter of this year compared with 13.24 per cent in the second quarter of the year, according to the figures posted on the TRC website, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Mobile subscriptions hit some 7.28 million subscriptions by the end of this year’s third quarter, compared with 7.02 subscriptions by the end of the second quarter, marking a growth of 3.8 per cent.
Mobile subscriptions as a percentage of the total adult population reached 105.08 per cent by the end of the third quarter, compared with 100.27 per cent at the end of the second quarter, while mobile subscriptions as a percentage of the population hit 66.2 per cent and 64.17 per cent, respectively in the third and second quarters.
Internet broadband subscriptions increased to reach 296,800 fiber subscriptions in the third quarter of this year, compared with 270,300 in the second quarter, showing an increase of 9.8 per cent.
