AMMAN — The allocated value for the Productivity Enhancement Programme, which is implemented by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, reached about JD6 million for this year, the ministry said on Wednesday.

The ministry said that during the first half of 2021, preparations were made to sign an agreement to provide the Military Retirement Association’s Revolving Fund initiative with an additional JD0.5 million to support retirees. This will increase the fund’s total value to JD3.5 million.

The agreement is aimed to provide the members of the association additional soft loans to establish productive projects in various economic sectors, the ministry added.

The ministry also highlighted the efforts to sign an agreement with Zain to open new call centres across the Kingdom, in addition to its preparations to establish a centre for optical fibre training and another for the maintenance of mobile phones in Madaba, at a cost of JD300,000.

Preparations are under way for two park initiatives, within the framework of rehabilitating the Phosphate Hills area and for the “Reducing Child Drowning” initiative in the King Abdullah Canal. The programme will establish swimming pools in the Northern Jordan Valley and DeirAlla districts and implement the Al Hassan Bin Talal Science Park project in Maan’s Al Shobak district, the ministry said.

The ministry also said that the IRADA programme had conducted some 650 economic feasibility studies, which led to the establishment of 320 projects. This programme also led to the foundation of two training and e-marketing platforms to promote local communities’ products.
