AMMAN — The Senate Legal Committee on Wednesday approved the draft 2022 elections law as passed by the Lower House.
The law aims to modernise the political system, enhance the participation of all society groups in the elections process, especially women and youth, and enable political parties to form alliances to elect a Lower House that represent social groups and intellectual and political trends.
The law also defines the procedures of the electoral process under the Independent Election Commission.
The law was approved during a session chaired by Senate President's First Deputy Samir Rifai, and the committee's head Senator Ahmad Tubeishat, in the presence of Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Maaitah and Minister of State for Legal Affairs Wafa Bani Mustafa, and a number of legal experts.
