AMMAN — The State Security Court (SSC) on Saturday heard the testimonies of five witnesses in the Zarqa assault case in which a 16-year-old boy was brutally attacked by a group of men who cut off his hands and left him blind in one eye in Zarqa last month, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the first session last week, the court pressed nine charges against 17 defendants, among them a fugitive, who will be tried in absentia.
The second session, attended by the General Attorney on Sunday, was adjourned until December 6. On average, two sessions will be allocated each day to listen to 26 witnesses, Petra reported. The defendants could face the death penalty by hanging if found guilty, Petra reported.
