Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has successfully renewed and extended the highest level of the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Programme — Level 3+ “Neutrality” — until May 2022, according to Airport International Group.
The certification, which QAIA was the first to receive in the Middle East in 2018, was granted as per the amended guidelines issued by the Airport Carbon Accreditation Advisory Board.
In addition to promoting Jordan within the global aviation arena for its pioneering green airport, this step highlights Airport International Group’s commitment to climate protection and its support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
As the sole airport to have attained the ACA Level 3+ “Neutrality” in the region, QAIA continuously deploys best environmental practices and periodically updatesi mplemented energy conservation procedures, which led to an 8 per cent drop in the carbon emissions per passenger between 2018 and 2019.
