AMMAN — The Labour Ministry, during an inspection campaign, on Sunday arrested 23 foreign workers for violating the Labour Law by using invalid work permits and working in professions that are allocated for Jordanians.
The ministry’s spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud on Monday, in a statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, said that the newly launched campaign aims at monitoring facilities that illegally employ foreign workers as well as to ensure the commitment of private sector’s adherence to defence orders.
The campaign has carried out 131 visits, during which 11 fines were issued for violations of Defence Order No.11, he added.
The spokesperson also said that all violating workers will be deported. Defence Order 11 commits people to wearing face masks and gloves, obliges individuals and institutions with “the highest levels of preventive measures” against COVID-19 and imposes penalties on all those who fail to adhere to the regulations.
