AMMAN — Minister of Agriculture Khalid Hneifat on Saturday inaugurated the pomegranate exhibition, which was organised in Iraq Al Amir, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the opening ceremony, attended by a number of deputies, dignitaries and farmers, Hneifat said that the ministry is working according to a Royal vision aimed to support rural communities and empower women.

Hneifat noted that the Olive Festival this year will differ from previous years, as it will last for 10 days instead of three days, adding that the marketing area will be expanded to reach 11,000 metres instead of 3,000 metres to accommodate the largest number of participants.

Hneifat, accompanied by Deputy Nimer Sleihat and a number of farmers, inspected the canal projects in Wadi Al Seer, calling for launching a campaign to follow up on the spread of nematodes and support farmers in combating and preventing them.

The agriculture minister met with a number of farmers in different locations and called for finding solutions to current agricultural challenges.
