Agriculture minister meets with Romania PM

AMMAN — Minister of Agriculture Khalid Hneifat on Wednesday met with Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Cioaca in Bucharest. Heading the Jordanian delegation at the second session of the Jordanian-Romanian Joint Agricultural Committee meetings, Hneifat discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in agriculture and food security, as well as in exchanging agricultural goods between the two countries, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Talks also went over increasing the level of exchange of agricultural commodities such as vegetables and fruits, particularly Jordanian dates and olive oil, in addition to fertilisers and veterinary vaccines.
The minister also highlighted the safety and quality of meat exported to Jordan, especially in terms of cross-border diseases, and emphasised the importance of exchanging expertise in the field of veterinary medicine, qualifying a number of veterinarians in Romania, and receiving experts to review local procedures for disease control and quarantine measures.
He also briefed the Romanian side on Jordan's experience in food security plans, horizontal grain silos and issues that boost cooperation. The meeting was attended by Romanian Minister of Agriculture Petre Daea and Jordanian Ambassador to Romania Sufyan Al Qudah.
