Amman Chamber of Industry exports witness 7 per cent increase in 2019

AMMAN — Exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) increased by 7 per cent in the first 10 months of 2019, compared with the same period in 2018, the chamber said on Wednesday. 

According to ACI statistics, its exports through October this year reached JD3.753 billion compared with around JD3.523 billion in 2018, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

India, Saudi Arabia, the US and Iraq acquired more than half of the chamber’s exports for the January-October period of 2019, amounting to JD1.975 billion.

According to the chamber’s statistics, exports to India increased by 7 per cent, making it the country to receive the most exports, at a value of JD557 million, compared with JD518 million during the same period of 2018.

The chamber’s exports to Saudi Arabia grew by 23 per cent to reach JD510 million, compared with JD413 million in 2018, while exports to the US increased by 9 per cent to reach JD461 million, compared with JD492 million in 2018.

Meanwhile, ACI statistics showed a decline in exports to Iraq by 9 per cent, dropping to JD447 million in the first 10 months of 2019, compared with JD492 million for the same period in 2018.

The chamber’s exports to Palestine registered a 14-per cent drop, totalling around JD180 million, compared with JD209 million in 2018.

The chamber’s highest export values came from the mining sector with JD906 million, the chemicals and cosmetics sector with some JD779 million and the therapeutic and medical supplies sector with JD534 million.
