AND foils drug smuggling attempt

AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have foiled an attempt to smuggle 150,000 drug pills via a cargo vehicle and arrested four suspects believed to be involved in the case, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said on Monday.

AND personnel received a tip-off about the intention of four persons to smuggle the pills to a neighbouring country, where security agents followed up on the information and arrested the four suspects, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported the spokesperson as saying.

Meanwhile, the PSD official said that a man who attempted to exchange 30 counterfeit banknotes was arrested along with an accomplice. The case was referred to the State Security Court prosecutor general, he added.
