AMMAN — The Eastern Military Zone on Sunday thwarted infiltration and narcotics smuggling attempts along its eastern border, according to a senior military source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).

The source said that the attempts began in the early hours of the morning, with several groups attempting to exploit the unstable weather and dense fog to cross into Jordanian territory.

JAF personnel applied the established rules of engagement, resulting in the death of one smuggler, while the remaining individuals fled back into Syrian territory, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities.

The source stressed JAF's unwavering commitment to using all necessary resources to prevent infiltration and smuggling, thereby protecting the security and stability of the Kingdom.
