AMMAN — The Public Security Department has begun implementing a comprehensive security, traffic and environmental plan for the Eid Al Adha holiday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Sunday.

Public security, criminal investigation and preventive security departments will enhance their patrols inside neighbourhoods, markets, entertainment venues, celebration sites and worship places to preserve security and spot any violations.

The Public Security Department has called on citizens and residents to secure their residences properly when leaving them for long times and urged them not to keep precious belongings inside their homes when absent.

The correctional and rehabilitation centres will also be open during the holiday, between 8:00am and 1pm, to allow families of inmates to visit them.

Also on Sunday, the Greater Amman Municipality announced that all main transport routes will be working as usual during the holiday, and said it will provide extra public vehicles to routes witnessing high shopping activities on the eid eve.

The municipality said that there will be 142 public parks and gardens across the capital receiving citizens during the holiday, according to Petra.

Meanwhile, the Industry, Trade and Supply Ministry said it started a comprehensive monitoring plan on markets during the holiday, which aims at guaranteeing the availability of goods sold at proper prices.

The plan includes inspections on markets, livestock shops, bakeries and sweets, fruits and vegetables shops and butcheries, according to Petra.

The Health Ministry also finished its technical and administrative preparations to sustain services during the holiday.

Ministry Spokesperson Hatem Azrui said that the crisis unit will be receiving calls and inquiries during the holiday round the clock on 0797485846, Petra reported.

The Tourism Ministry said that tourist sites are ready to receive visitors during the holiday, and that it opened an operations room to receive inquiries on 117777.
