Cabinet reassigns customs-related prosecution jurisdictions to civil courts

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the 2019 amendments to the Customs Law that would increase the jurisdiction of the attorney general’s office to improve its performance.
The 2019 Customs Law amendments reassign the customs-related public rights cases from customs employees to the Civil Court. The Cabinet also approved the 2019 amendments to the Civil Courts Formation Law.
The amendments also reassign the duties of investigating tax and customs charges to the Civil Court, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
