AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein, the Regent, on Monday visited Palestinians being treated in Jordan for severe injuries and wounds suffered as a result of the Israeli assault on Gaza.
Six Palestinians injured in the raids, including two women and a child, arrived at the King Hussein Medical Centre (KHMC) after Prince Hussein ordered on Sunday the dispatch of ambulances to transfer them to the centre, due to their critical condition.
During the visit, the Regent urged that they be given the best medical care, stressing Jordan’s commitment to stand by the Palestinians in their ordeal and provide them with medical and humanitarian assistance.
The injured were transferred to the KHMC after initial treatment at the Jordan Field Hospital in Gaza proved insufficient for the severity of their conditions.
Prince Hussein was accompanied by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben, Royal Medical Services officials and doctors supervising the cases of the wounded.
The six wounded Palestinians currently in Jordan are part of the first group to receive medical treatment in the Kingdom.
Medical support arrives in Gaza
A truck carrying supplies to support the Jordanian military field hospital in Gaza arrived in the strip on Monday. Hospital Commander Colonel Hassan Anaab said the assistance included medicines and medical supplies that would help sustain the hospital’s ability to treat the rising number of injured parties and alleviate the suffering of people in Gaza, especially under current conditions. Upon the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, Prince Hussein on Sunday requested the Jordan Armed Forces to beef up support for the Jordanian military field hospital in Gaza by providing it with medical supplies, more surgeons and specialised physicians.
