Prince Hussein stresses importance of linking, unifying government databases

AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein on Thursday visited the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, where he was briefed on its future programmes and projects. 
 
Chairing a meeting at the ministry on the National Council for Future Technology’s national data programme, the Crown Prince stressed the importance of linking and unifying government databases, noting the need to develop an institutional culture towards data use and management, according to a Royal Court statement. 
 
His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of observing accuracy in data registration to optimise e-government services and facilitate citizens’ access to them.
 
Council members reviewed how data can be used to enhance services provided to citizens by collecting accurate data, standardising the structure of databases, and developing digital infrastructure, the statement said. 
 
During the visit, the Crown Prince was briefed on the Youth, Technology and Jobs project, which aims to enhance the digital skills of youth, expand digital economy applications, and support the digital transformation of government services.
 
His Royal Highness was also briefed on the areas of work of the Digital Transformation and Empowerment Department, which includes digital infrastructure and data management, government digital services, the Sanad platform, digital identity and digital security, and inter-governmental data exchange and connectivity.
 
Relevant ministers and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain attended the meeting.
