AMMAN — A military source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army said that the eastern and northern military zones thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs at the Jordanian-Syrian border late on Tuesday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The military source said that the eastern military zone, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and Military Security within the area, foiled an attempt to smuggle large quantities of drugs late on Tuesday, after detecting a number of people trying to cross from Syria into the Kingdom.
After searching the area, seven bags containing 5000 Tramadol pills, 1,131,000 Captagon pills, 329 palm-sized sheets of hashish and a pistol were seized and transferred to the competent authorities.
The source added that a person was also spotted trying to cross from Syria into Jordan on Tuesday. After the rules of engagement were applied, the infiltrator was arrested and referred to concerned authorities.
