AMMAN — Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra extended his appreciation to Jordan for evacuating Dutch citizens from Sudan. During a ceremony organised by the Dutch embassy in Amman on Monday, Hoekstra said that Jordan has established an air bridge to secure the evacuation of citizens and ensure their safety.

“We will continue to invest in the partnership and friendship with Jordan,” he said, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Dutch Ambassador Harry Verweij said that his country considers Jordan a “strategic partner”, stressing Jordan’s humanitarian role in sheltering, educating and providing jobs for refugees and local communities.

Verweij noted that over 200 million euros have been invested to support Jordan, reiterating his country’s cooperation with the Kingdom in many fields, such as water management, trade and security, agriculture, human rights and private sector matters.
