AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh on Wednesday attended the signing ceremony of an agreement to develop and maintain the Darsak online platform between the Ministry of Education and Mawdoo3.com, aimed to develop distance learning services for school students.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Khasawneh praised the “remarkable” volunteer efforts made by the Mawdoo3 website since the launch of the e-learning platform last March, which contributed to the sustainability of the educational process in schools and the development of the distance learning process during the pandemic, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The agreement, signed by Minister of Education Tayseer Nueimi and CEO of Mawdoo3.com Rami Qawasmi, would direct efforts of Mawdoo3’s cadres free of charge in the development, modernisation and maintenance services of the Darsak platform, for one year, to ensure sustainability of the platform’s remote learning services to school students.
The Mawdoo3 website has voluntarily provided services, including studios, production and directing teams for the platform’s content since the launch of distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking during the ceremony, Nueimi said that Mawdoo3 website, under the agreement, donates the platform Darsak completely to the ministry without any financial compensation, while the website will continue to provide technical support and maintain the platform’s operations for a year.
The ministry has started the necessary procedures to transfer ownership of the distance learning platform and formed a committee comprising representatives from the ministries of finance and education and the Audi Bureau to estimate the value of the donated platform, which was estimated at some JD2 million, according to Nuaimi.
The minister also said that the agreement will support the ministry’s efforts in developing and sustaining distance learning services,
Qawasmi said that the website team has worked voluntarily to serve the Kingdom’s educational process during the past period, adding that, as per the agreement, the website will continue to support the education ministry’s efforts in developing and sustaining distance learning services.
The platform has succeeded “remarkably” during the last period, he said, noting that the platform has received more than 1.6 billion views, and more than 20 million ministerial exams were administered.
