AMMAN— The Jordan Engineers Association (JEA) is ready to construct an emergency field hospital within 10 days at JEA’s hangars complex in response to the coronavirus spread, according to JEA officials.

JEA President Ahmad Samara Zu’bi said in press statements that all of the syndicate’s buildings and facilities across the Kingdom “are at the disposal of the government.”

“Out of our responsibility towards our country, we stand ready to contribute with all of our capabilities,” Zu’bi said.

The JEA has collected and donated JD200,000 to support national efforts to controlling the spread of the coronavirus, Zu’bi underlined, noting that emergency teams and rooms have been established across the Kingdom to support the government’s efforts.

JEA Deputy President Fawzi Mesed said on Saturday that the association has met with representatives of the Jordanian Construction Contractors Association (JCCA), the Jordan Medical Association (JMA) and the Jordan Pharmacists Association (JPA) at the Professional Associations Complex on March 19 to coordinate efforts and share expertise lest construction on the emergency field hospital commences.

“We have received strong support and cooperation from all of the three associations,” Mesed told The Jordan Times.

A total of 450 JEA engineers across the Kingdom are willing to contribute, according to the association.

The association’s 11,500-square metre hangars complex, located on the capital’s outskirts, has the capacity to accommodate 192 quarantine beds and 132 isolation beds, Mesed added.

“The construction period includes the cladding, isolation, finishing works and the construction of healthcare units, sewage systems and power facilities, in addition to the installation of gypsum board walls, PVC flooring rolls, aluminum single windows and air conditioning systems,” Mesed said.
