Farmers, pet store owners exempted from lockdown with conditions

AMMAN — The National Centre for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) on Tuesday allowed farmers to transport their olive harvest to oil mills during the lockdown, provided they obtain permissions issued by agriculture departments in each governorate, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Ministry of Agriculture’s Spokesperson Lawrence Majali said that owners and workers in olive presses are excluded over fears of decreasing olive production, adding that governors are authorised to issue permissions exclusively for cases of emergency.

The centre also approved the movement of pet store owners from 2pm until 4pm during curfew, provided they show their business licence granted by the Ministry of Agriculture or occupational licence granted by the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) or other municipalities, Petra reported.

Similarly, workers in pet stores are also required to hold original business licences, as copies would be rendered invalid.
