AMMAN — The Lower House’s Sunday session agreed that His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to the US was of “great importance”, especially given His Majesty’s hosting of the Arab summit.

The outcomes of the visit, including the King’s press conference with President Donald Trump, showed consensus over various issues, the House said in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The Lower Chamber said that the agreed-upon issues included terrorism, the Middle East peace process and the importance of dealing with regional issues holistically in order to achieve peace and prosperity for the peoples of the region.

MPs also praised His Majesty’s leading role in highlighting Jordan’s positions, which reflect a pan-Arab stance, on the need to reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis, in a way that guarantees its unity, as well as ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The lack of a solution to the Palestinian issue will see violence and instability continue in the region, while providing terrorist groups with fertile recruiting grounds, the House stressed.

The Chamber denounced all forms of terrorism, underlining the importance of uprooting its resources, while calling for united international efforts to challenge the ideological basis of terrorism, even after it is defeated militarily, according to Petra.
