AMMAN — Interior Minister Mazen Faraiah on Saturday opened a conference titled “Crisis risk management in Jordan over 100 years”, organised by the Jordan Engineers Association’s (JEA) committee of crisis and disaster management.
Faraiah valued the professional associations efforts, notably the JEA’s contributions in building the state and providing the Kingdom’s various sectors with qualified human resources and expertise.
The conference witnessed the participation of the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM), Civil Defence Department and international organisations that contributed in improving disaster risk management in Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
On the Kingdom’s management for the COVID-19 crisis, the minister said that the government has developed its health capabilities to handle the pandemic effectively, as it formed a crisis cell in the NCSCM that included the Kingdom’s institutions and security agencies.
More than one year into the pandemic, the Kingdom’s health sector has proven it efficacy, thanks to the new field hospitals and efforts that have consolidated the established infrastructure, which paved the way to reaching the recovery stage, he said.
