AMMAN — The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), in coordination with the Foreign Ministry and the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Sunday dispatched a new relief convoy to people affected by the earthquakes that recently hit Syria.

The organisation said that the 14-truck convoy was loaded with foodstuff, blankets, mattresses, health kits, water, medicine and medical supplies that will be delivered through the Jordanian-Syrian borders to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and UN organisations, according to a JHCO statement.

The number of aircraft sent to Syria reached three through the airports of Damascus and Aleppo, where the first aid convoy reached Syrians on two airplanes on February 8.

The first land convoys, loaded with basic and major needs, were launched on February 10, and further land convoys were dispatched to Syria across the Jordanian-Syrian border (Jaber-Nassib), bringing the number of convoys sent to date to 15, consisting of 124 trucks.

The JHCO noted that it receives in-kind assistance according to a specific list, which is updated regularly.

The JHCO assistance includes family-sized tents, power generators, supplies for children and the elderly, food supplies, heaters, blankets, mattresses, cushions, foldable beds, carpets, handheld flashlights, clothes, shoes, mineral water, medicine, medical supplies, sleeping bags, food containers, and clothes, according to the statement.

The aid also includes medical supplies, sleeping bags, food bags, respirators, first aid bags, rubble removal equipment and rescue equipment, oxygen cylinders with flow gauge, patient beds, transporters, oxygen masks for adults and young people, medical screens, sterile medical gloves, ambulances and general surgery tools.
