Jordan expresses ‘deep concerns’ over developments in Ukraine

AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry, in a statement, on Thursday confirmed that the Kingdom is following up on developments in the crisis in Ukraine, the escalation of the situation and the rise in tension.
Expressing “deep concerns”, the ministry stressed Jordan's firm rejection of the use or threat of force in resolving disputes, and the need to respect international law, the UN Charter, the principles of good neighborliness, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Haitham Abu Al Foul highlighted the need to prioritise dialogue and unify efforts to stop the escalation and resolve the crisis by peaceful means in accordance with international law and in a manner that guarantees security and stability.
He added that Jordan also calls for taking all necessary measures to protect civilians and ensure their safety.
The ministry renewed Jordan's support for all diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and reaching a peaceful solution to the crisis, while emphasising respect for Ukraine's sovereignty.
