King discusses regional developments with US House delegation

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday discussed regional developments with a delegation from the US House of Representatives headed by Representative Darrell Issa, who is a member of the House’s Foreign Affairs Committee.

During a meeting attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, His Majesty warned of the escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, according to a Royal Court statement.

The King stressed the need to step up international efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution, highlighting the pivotal role of the United States in advancing these efforts.

His Majesty reiterated Jordan’s rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, calling for maintaining the ceasefire in the Strip and boosting the humanitarian response, the statement added.

The meeting also covered ways to advance the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States.
