AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday took to Twitter to reiterate his call for united international efforts to contain and counter the coronavirus disease.

The Financial Times on Tuesday published an op-ed co-written by His Majesty King Abdullah with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Singapore President Halimah Yacob, Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde and Ecuador President Lenín Moreno Garcés.

In the article, King Abdullah and the leaders commended those working around the world to save lives or maintain vital services, writing that “they give us hope and offer inspiration that our societies may not only weather this crisis but also grow stronger and more connected”.

“Delighted to join President Steinmeier of Germany and leaders from around the world in a call to bring down barriers and mobilise human ingenuity and solidarity. A global pandemic demands a global solution. We must come together in a new international alliance to counter COVID-19,” the King tweeted.
