AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister, Local Administration Minister and Acting Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Tawfiq Krishan on Sunday met with several representatives of international civil society organisations operating in Jordan.
The meeting comes as part of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs’ keenness to match programmes and activities implemented by these organisations with the outcomes and recommendations of the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System, mainly those pertaining to women and youth, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Krishan said that the political participation of women and youth is among the top goals that the government seeks to achieve, adding that the recent Constitutional amendments included special items related to empowering women and youth for the first time.
The minister urged these organisations to implement these recommendations by intensifying their programmes and projects that seek to change stereotypes about joining political parties, predominantly among women and young people.
