Madaba officials, Azeri envoy discuss cooperation

AMMAN — Azerbaijan's Ambassador in Amman Eldar Salimov visited Madaba on Wednesday and met with Governor Nayef Hedayat to discuss cooperation in tourism and investment. Hedayat praised the Jordanian-Azeri ties established by His Majesty King Abdullah and Azerbaijan's president, underlining the countries’ shared stances on global and regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause and the Hashemite Custodianship of the holy sites, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The ambassador was briefed by the Mayor of Madaba Arif Rawajih on the town's investment opportunities and tourism. Rawajih also called for partnerships and exchange programmes between Madaba and Azeri cities. Salimov expressed pride in Azerbaijan’s ties with Jordan, commending collaborations in tourism and investment in light of shared historical and cultural values. Azerbaijan Airlines has started direct flights between the countries' capitals, he said, calling for increased visits between representatives of the two countries’ tourism sectors.
