Municipal reform is ongoing process — mayors

AMMAN — Mayors and Minister of Municipal Affairs Walid Masri on Sunday agreed that municipalities’ reforms need continuous efforts and will not stop at the amendments of the draft municipalities law.
At a seminar organised by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, mayors said municipalities should not continue to be under the custodianship of the ministry.
They called for a transparent framework in calculating revenues of oil derivatives and awarding municipalities the adequate authority and jurisdiction to perform their job.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs on Sunday endorsed the draft municipalities law and referred it to the Legislation Bureau, before its final endorsement and referring it to the Council of Ministers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
