AMMAN –– The Chevening Scholarships alumni in Jordan have recently elected a new board of directors for the coming three years.
According to a statement issued by the association Saturday, Saad Al Amour, Rakan Madi, Dina Harbi, Jarrah Zu'bi and Mai Tbeishat were elected as new board members. The elections were held at the residence of the UK Ambassador in Jordan Peter Millet.
Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at universities in the UK.
The Chevening programme was established in 1983 and has developed into a prestigious international scheme. Chevening Scholars come from more than 150 countries and territories worldwide (excluding the USA and the EU)
The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree, in any subject and at any UK university.
Amour said the board of directors will work on promoting available scholarships for next year and to encourage students who have leadership skills to apply to UK universities.
