PM attends event marking 20th anniversary of Jordan Bromine factory

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Sunday attended a ceremony, hosted by Jordan Bromine Company, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Jordan Bromine factory.
Khasawneh commended the remarkable achievements of Jordan Bromine Company over the past 20 years, solidifying its position as the world's second-largest bromine manufacturer, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to facilitating expansion, supporting existing investments, and attracting further investments in this vital sector.
Samer Assafour, the General Manager of Jordan Bromine Company, provided an overview of the company's achievements, highlighting that Jordan Bromine covers one-third of the global demand for bromine through exports to 34 countries.
Jordan Bromine accounts for 2 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), over 6 per cent of national exports, and 18 per cent of the work at the Aqaba Port, he said, adding that it currently employs around 630 workers in various fields, and indirectly impacts the lives of more than 2,000 individuals.
