AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan on Sunday received Tunisian Minister of Religious Affairs Ahmed Adhoum and an accompanying delegation and stressed the importance of “invigorating the spirit of the age based on the authenticity drawn from the first renaissance”.

In the meeting, the prince highlighted the need for “optimising similarities and respecting differences”, calling for reviving paths of thought between eastern and western parts of the Arab world, which requires intellectual cooperation based on faith, morals and knowledge and enhancing outlook studies, according to a statement from the prince’s office.

The prince voiced the need to bolster the concept of “shura” (consultation) between people, revive dialogue between denominations based on analytical thinking, develop participatory culture and focus on human dignity and openness to other cultures.

For his part, Adhoum praised the Jordanian role in conveying the true image of Islam and Muslims to the world, noting that it is essential to face regional challenges by communication and consultation on the basis of true perspectives that reflect Islam as a religion of mercy, justice and equality, read the statement.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Abdul Nasser Abul Bassal, Arab Thought Forum Secretary General Mohammad Abu Hammour and Tunisian Ambassador to Jordan Khalid Suhaili.
