Prince Mired honours 11 students with disabilities for 'exceptional' Tawjihi results

AMMAN — HH Prince Mired, president of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), on Thursday, honoured 11 students with disabilities who achieved outstanding results in the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi), each scoring over 95 per cent.

During the ceremony, Prince Mired commended the students for their "exceptional achievements and resilience" in overcoming obstacles related to the lack of fully inclusive educational environments, 

The prince also highlighted the critical need for accessible facilities and commended the students for their remarkable success in overcoming these challenges.

The prince also praised the students' families for their support and encouraged both students and parents to continue pursuing further accomplishments and seizing future opportunities, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Prince Mired reiterated the HCD’s commitment to inclusive education, citing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act No. (20) of 2017 and the 10-Year Strategy for Inclusive Education. 

He also highlighted ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Education and international partners to effectively implement the strategy.

Students and their families expressed their gratitude for Prince Mired's steadfast support, noting the significant improvements made by educational institutions for students with disabilities, which contributed to their academic success.

Prince Mired awarded certificates to the following students: Hala Tamimi, Mohammad Ibrahim, Saad Abu Abbas, Abdul Rahman Najjar, Saba Issa, Bara Zoubi, Obadah Anqi, Amr Muwajdah, Mahmoud Rabah, Suwar Azzam, and Haneen Tureini.

This year, 33 students with disabilities scored 90 per cent or more on the Tawjihi exams. 

Out of 607 students with disabilities who took the exams, 365 passed, reflecting a pass rate of 60 per cent.
