Programme promotes adoption of eco-friendly technology in food industry

AMMAN — The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) held a workshop on Tuesday at the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) to shed light on a project to promote the adoption of environment-friendly technology in local food industries, an RSS statement said.
The project is supported by the UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and financed by the EU and is in line with an agreement signed between RSS and UNIDO in association with the ACI.
Rifat Asi, director of the Environment and Water Centre at the RSS, said the project aims to support 12 factories to reduce consumption of raw materials and water, as well as reduce organic materials in wastewater, according to the statement.
