AMMAN — The Kingdom’s Grand Mufti Mohammad Khalaileh on Sunday called on the public to look for the crescent moon (hilal), at sunset on Thursday, June 14, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The crescent marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan and the first day of the Muslim feast Eid Al Fitr.
If the sighting is confirmed, Muslims in Jordan will stop fasting on Friday; otherwise, they will do so on Saturday. Sharia courts around Jordan will be open to receive witnesses who saw the crescent, according to Petra.
