Romanian charter plane carrying 167 tourists lands at Aqaba airport

AMMAN — A Romanian charter plane carrying 167 tourists landed at King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba on Monday, marking the start of flights on the newly opened Jordan-Romania air route, in cooperation with the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB).

Minister of Tourism and JTB Chairman Makram Qaisi said that the new air service, set to include 11 charter flights by the end of the season, is part of JTB’ strategy to increase tourist arrivals, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

JTB Director-General Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat said that the JTB seeks to attract tourists from Romania and other European countries through low-cost direct flights to Amman and Aqaba. Arabiyat stated that JTB is committed to creating "healthy competition" in the aviation sector to stimulate the economy, predicting that tourism will gain momentum thanks to the new air service.
