AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah tirelessly seeks to enable Jordan to face its economic challenges, provide an attractive investment environment, and build economic partnerships with other countries, Senate President Faisal Fayez said on Thursday.
Delivering a speech during the inauguration of the Regional Investment Conference: Challenges and Investment, organised by the Entrepreneur Centre for Human Rights Training and Studies in cooperation with the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), Fayez said that His Majesty spared no effort to increase investment in the Kingdom during his visits to other countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also called on stakeholders to prepare economic plans that set priorities of importance in a way that reflects positively on citizens and activates “a true partnership” with the private sector to reach agreements on required economic reforms.
The Senate president also urged to draw a clear timeframe to implement economic programmes partnered with the private sector, in a bid to realise economic recovery and achieve the growth and employment levels necessary to improve the economy and the level of services offered to citizens.
Investment Minister Khairy Amr said that investment opportunities in Jordan constitute an important part of the economy across the region.
Amr also noted that the new investment law is a step forward in the rights and incentives granted to investors, which requires a conducive environment to hasten transactions.
Meanwhile, ACI President Fathi Jaghbir said that pan-Arab commercial exchange centres around certain commodities that do not match the production diversity in Arab countries, noting that Arab nations are rich in raw materials that are necessary for various industries.
The two-day event, which saw wide participation from several Arab countries, seeks to support sustainable development and combat challenges in the energy, water and food security sectors.
